With our busy summer calendars, a lot of our youth programs have filled up quickly! But did you know we also offer programs that do not require registration and are open to everybody? Any program in our newsletter, on our calendar, or on our website that has NR next to it – noted in blue in our print publications – requires No Registration, and can be attended without prior notice, as your schedule allows. No library card is required.

Some of our regular NR programming include a monthly nighttime Music and Movement storytime program with Miss Jen; a Play to Learn, when our meeting room transforms into a themed early learning play center for the weekend; MakerTime, an opportunity to explore more complex skills in our Creation Center with your favorite crafty adult; and the perennial favorite with our older elementary and middle school patrons: Perler Beads! There is a Play to Learn with the theme Down on the Farm this weekend at our Eastgate location!
We have many NR programs coming up as we wrap up our Plant a Seed, Read! summer reading program. Check your schedules to see if you can make any of these drop-in programs:
Lunchapalooza with Miss Jamie’s Farm at Towne Park Band Shell in Algonquin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22. Sing and dance in the sunshine with Miss Jamie!

Summer Movie: Hoppers at Eastgate at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 30. This was Miss Valerie’s favorite movie of the year. Don’t miss it, or see it a second time!
Summer Reading Wrap-Up at Harnish at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 31. Don’t forget to bring your Kona Ice coupons! The truck will be here until 6 p.m.
August is an off month for storytimes as our librarians transition from summer reading to fall programming, but there are several pop-up NR programs planned during the month for fun for our littlest patrons.
Constructive Play for ages 0-5 will be at Harnish from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Perler Beads returns for grades 2-8 at Harnish from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, and Thursday, Aug. 6.
Groovy Glow Golf for ages 4 and older is at Harnish from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6.
Dance Party for ages 5 and younger at Eastgate from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7.
Music & Movement for ages 0-5 at Harnish from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16.
Storytime at Turnbridge Park for ages 0-5 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20. Located at 1365 Stonegate Rd., Algonquin.
Also don’t forget our many fun programs that do require registration due to supplies, space and staff availability. Registration for those programs in August and September will open on Wednesday, July 22, and those residing in AAPLD district should have already received a newsletter in your mailbox with the programs that will be available for registration, including our Mario Kart Tournament and September storytimes. Those who do not receive a newsletter can find it here or pick one up at either of our locations. Look for our youth programming at the back, and pay attention to the codes similar to NR shown above. The code RO means anyone is able to register, and the code RR means the program requires an Algonquin card to register. Many programs with RR restrictions will open to RO a couple of weeks prior if they have not filled up. Also note the location codes: H for Harnish, at our location at 2600 Harnish Drive, and E for Eastgate, at 115 Eastgate Drive. Occasionally there will also be notes of V for virtual or a special annotation for offsite programming, such as our storytimes in the park.
Whether you are a planner or take things one day at a time, we try to create programming that will work for every family. We hope to see you soon at the library!
