Philosophy/General Purpose: Utilizing a play based curriculum, students will develop a strong foundation for high achievement in future educational experiences. Students emerging from this program will demonstrate kindergarten readiness in social, emotional and academic areas.

Curriculum: Cambridge Lakes Preschool blends the High Scope Curriculum philosophy with content from the Core Knowledge Sequence developed by E. D. Hircsh. Learning is focused on the following eight content areas: Approaches to learning, Social and emotional development, Physical development and health, Language, literacy, and communication, Mathematics, Creative arts, Science and technology, and Social studies. Philosophy/General Purpose: In Montessori, we believe that a child learns best within a collaborative, social environment that respects the individual’s unique development. Each child is part of a small class that allows them to work at their own pace, individually or collaboratively with each other, guided by caring adults trained in early childhood development.

Curriculum: Children are naturally curious, and they teach themselves by interacting with Montessori materials, which lead sequentially from concrete to abstract ideas. Our teachers are trained to observe and gently guide, allowing each child to experience the joy of learning for themselves. In doing so, children develop confidence by mastering the practical life skills they need to be independent.

Philosophy/General Purpose: The purpose of the Dundee Township Park District Preschool is to provide a program in which children are actively involved in a curriculum that stresses the social, emotional, physical and academic aspects of their development. Our professional staff of teachers and aides have a common goal:to create a warm, accepting environment which supports the development of the whole child.

Curriculum: Younger children are introduced to skills that will enhance their self-reliance skills while encouraging strong positive social interaction. Children ages 4-5 prepare for Kindergarten based on District 300 expectations through exposure to a variety of academic units and social/emotional learning. The Park District provides opportunities for the child to be with other children, fostering a development of wholesome social relationships. Age-appropriate experiences are provided that contribute to the developmental needs of the child, as well as building important foundations for future academic skills.

Facilities (classrooms, gymnasiums, etc.): We offer four locations throughout the area: West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow and two in Carpentersville. Although each site is unique, all sites offer individual classrooms which are arranged in a “learning center” style. All locations offer large motor areas, either with outdoor playgrounds or an indoor gym.

We are a unique school that provides approximately 200 learning days per school year, beginning in early August through the first full week of June. We take traditional school breaks (federal/state holidays, Christmas Break, Spring Break, and 8.5 weeks in summer) but are in session otherwise. See the current school calendar for details.

Curriculum: We primarily use One in Christ and A Beka Book as our guiding sources for the written curriculum.

We follow Illinois Early Learning Standards and pay particular attention to elementary school benchmarks for kindergarten.
Our highly qualified staff are passionate about teaching children and meeting each student’s individual needs. Our staff meets DCFS qualification standards. We encourage and guide the child in developing independence, responsibility, and problem solving on their own.
Our classes start with children 3 years old and grow with them until they go to kindergarten.

Philosophy/General Purpose: The Place for Children with Autism provides Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy (ABA) to children ages 2-6 years old. Our full day (8 am to 4:30pm) program targets a variety of skills across many areas of development–including communication, socialization, independent living, and school readiness skills. The goal of our ABA therapy program is to prepare children for the transition into a traditional  school setting by reducing specific challenging behaviors that interfere with learning or developing interpersonal relationships.

Curriculum: We specialize in providing the highest quality ABA therapy in a preschool-like setting for children with autism ages 2-6. Our child to therapist ratio is 1:1 and throughout the day our therapists work on increasing critical skills but in an environment which resembles a school. For example, throughout the day, there are daily activities which include circle time, story time, table time, arts and crafts, sensory play, free play, group play, outdoor play, snack, lunch, nap time (if needed), as well as fine and gross motor activities.

Additional Information/Notes: Every child and family in our program receives a comprehensive, personalized autism assessment prior to treatment. Based on the autism assessment, a customized treatment plan is developed for each child, focusing on goals like speech therapy outcomes, toileting, and developing communication and social skills. Assessments then occur approximately every six months, allowing our clinicians to observe changes, review progress with parents, and target areas that may still need improvement.
