Philosophy/General Purpose: In Montessori, we believe that a child learns best within a collaborative, social environment that respects the individual’s unique development. Each child is part of a small class that allows them to work at their own pace, individually or collaboratively with each other, guided by caring adults trained in early childhood development.
Curriculum: Children are naturally curious, and they teach themselves by interacting with Montessori materials, which lead sequentially from concrete to abstract ideas. Our teachers are trained to observe and gently guide, allowing each child to experience the joy of learning for themselves. In doing so, children develop confidence by mastering the practical life skills they need to be independent.

Additional Information/Notes: Crystal Lake Montessori School accepts children without regard to race, religion, or ethnic background. We welcome all students and families and do not discriminate in our hiring, admissions process, or any other form of access. About Maria Montessori: Born in the late 1800’s, Maria Montessori made her name by becoming one of Italy’s first female physicians and a pioneer in early childhood studies. Her work with children led her to found the first Casa dei Bambini, a home-like setting with specially created activities to stimulate children’s natural curiosity.

- Acquire knowledge and skills in the prescribed curriculum.
- Experience, appreciate, and respect God’s creation.

With these statements in mind, we recognize that the primary responsibility for your child’s growth in all these areas lies with the parents and most normally occurs within the framework of the home. At the same time, we know that parents, for a variety of reasons, desire assistance in these aspects of care and training for their children.

Philosophy/General Purpose: We believe that each child is a special gift from God. Each child is a unique individual and is encouraged to develop spiritually, intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially at his/her own rate. Each child is created by God with his/her own special capabilities. We try to recognize these differences and give attention to individual needs.
In a Christian atmosphere, your child will experience God’s love, know Jesus as his/her Savior, and share this love and forgiveness with others.
Through a stimulating environment, hands-on experiences, and varied learning resources, your child will gain self-confidence, independent problem-solving skills, social skills, and a love of learning. These concrete learning experiences will broaden the foundation for future learning.
The education of a child is a partnership between home and school. Parents are recognized as the child’s primary teacher and supported in that role. We strive to provide an environment in which the parent/guardian and the school can cooperatively enhance the child’s life as a special child of God.
Curriculum: The Little Lambs Preschool curriculum goal covers five areas of development. We seek to provide opportunities for growth in the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social areas of development. Activities are provided to give children opportunities for experimentation, discovery, and hands-on learning, as we know that young children learn best when they are free to interact with their environment.

Philosophy/General Purpose: The Place for Children with Autism provides Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy (ABA) to children ages 2-6 years old. Our full day (8 am to 4:30pm) program targets a variety of skills across many areas of development–including communication, socialization, independent living, and school readiness skills. The goal of our ABA therapy program is to prepare children for the transition into a traditional school setting by reducing specific challenging behaviors that interfere with learning or developing interpersonal relationships.
Curriculum: We specialize in providing the highest quality ABA therapy in a preschool-like setting for children with autism ages 2-6. Our child to therapist ratio is 1:1 and throughout the day our therapists work on increasing critical skills but in an environment which resembles a school. For example, throughout the day, there are daily activities which include circle time, story time, table time, arts and crafts, sensory play, free play, group play, outdoor play, snack, lunch, nap time (if needed), as well as fine and gross motor activities.
Facilities (classrooms, gymnasiums, etc.): Our Lake in the Hills center is spacious and beautiful. We have 6 classrooms and an activities room. We also have a large fenced in playground and an interior gym space complete with a slide and a ball pit. Call us to schedule a tour at Lake in the Hills or any of our other locations.
Accreditation: BHCOE Accredited, Great Place To Work Certified
Additional Information/Notes: Every child and family in our program receives a comprehensive, personalized autism assessment prior to treatment. Based on the autism assessment, a customized treatment plan is developed for each child, focusing on goals like speech therapy outcomes, toileting, and developing communication and social skills. Assessments then occur approximately every six months, allowing our clinicians to observe changes, review progress with parents, and target areas that may still need improvement.
