The Reading Patch Club is open to Algonquin cardholders and is for children in grades K-8, plus preschoolers who have finished the 1,001 Books Before Kindergarten program. There is the Read to Me program and Reading on My Own program. The 2024-2025 Patch Club is currently being revamped! Stay tuned–we hope to launch the new and improved program in October.
Read to Me
The Read to Me program is for children still reading with an adult or being read to by an adult. You will receive a yellow log and fill out 30 titles based on the genre-themed patch you and your child decide to earn. Once you read all 30 titles, turn in your log at the Youth Services desk, receive your patch, pick your next patch to earn, and keep going till you collect them all.
Reading on My Own
Reading on My Own program is for children who have started to read chapter books independently. When you sign up your child for this program he or she will receive a blue log and only have to read 8 titles based on a genre-themed patch. Once all 8 titles have been read, turn in the log at the Youth Services desk, receive the patch, pick the next patch, and keep going!
Program Dates
The program runs during the school year between Labor Day and Memorial Day. If you do not finish a log before Memorial Day, hang on to it and bring it in after Labor Day and collect your patch then. The 2023-2024 school year Patch Club will run from September 5, 2023 to May 25th, 2024.
Tote Bag
To earn a tote bag complete 5 patch logs and receive a free tote to sew all your patches on to!
