Help turn your child into a life-long reader by joining the Library’s Summer and Winter Reading Programs. Library Reading Programs help improve and keep your child’s reading skills up during vacation periods. Each year we change our program’s theme, but the activities, programs, prizes, and books are always a part of the fun!
Summer Reading Program – Reading Takes You Everywhere
June 1 – July 31, 2018
The Summer Reading Program goes from June 1st to July 31st every year. The numbers are in for 2018: 1,333 kids signed up and 829 kids completed the whole program! While the program did officially end on July 31st, we will be giving out our remaining prizes up until Sunday, August 5th, 2018 (while supplies last). Be sure to check out our Reading Patch Club, 1001 Books Before Kindergarten, and Book Discussion programs for reading incentives throughout the Fall and Spring months. Stay tuned for the Winter Reading Program, which will start in January 2019!
This year we began a new tradition — the community scavenger hunt for the AAPLD Rocket. The scavenger hunt was an awesome way for the Library to work with local businesses in the Algonquin & Lake in the Hills area. The Rocket traveled to 10 different locations throughout the summer and participants only had to find it in 5 places in order to enter the prize drawing. Winners will be announced soon!
