Help turn your child into a life-long reader by joining the Library’s Summer and Winter Reading Programs. Library Reading Programs help improve and keep your child’s reading skills up during vacation periods. Each year we change our program’s theme, but the activities, programs, prizes, and books are always a part of the fun!
Winter Reading Program – Read Up A Storm
January 5 – February 28, 2019
This year our Winter Reading Program will be open to everyone — not JUST Algonquin cardholders! Our kickoff date is Saturday, January 5, 2019 but you may sign-up after that date too. Those who attend the Locked in the Library on January 4 may sign up one day early. Reading is counted by 15 minute increments or 3 books, depending on the reading level of the child. Children may complete up to four bonus reading logs after finishing their first initial log.
Summer Reading Program – It’s Showtime at Your Library
June 1 – July 31, 2019
The numbers are in for 2018: 1,333 kids signed up and 829 kids completed the whole program! Look for information specific to the next Summer Reading Program in May 2019. We will be visiting District 300 schools for our annual Summer Reading assemblies throughout the month of May.
