High Scope Curriculum
www.highscope.org
A Comprehensive Curriculum In the HighScope Preschool Curriculum, learning is focused on the following eight content areas, which are based on the dimensions of school readiness identified by the National Education Goals Panel. HighScope's curriculum content areas are:Approaches to learning, Social and emotional development, Physical development and health, Language, literacy, and communication, Mathematics, Creative arts, Science and technology, and Social studies. While learning in these content areas prepares children for later schooling, HighScope takes the learning process beyond traditional academic subjects by applying methods that promote independence, curiosity, decision making, cooperation, persistence, creativity, and problem solving in young children.

Key Developmental Indicators (KDIs)
In the HighScope Preschool Curriculum, learning in these eight areas is guided by 58 key developmental indicators (KDIs) that meet all state standards. Each KDI is linked to one of the dimensions of school readiness, and each is a statement that identifies an observable child behavior reflecting knowledge and skills in those areas.

Facilities (classrooms, gymnasiums, ect.):
Cambridge Lakes Preschool is located on the campus of Cambridge Lakes Charter School. Preschool students have access to weekly library time, a dedicated preschool playground, and indoor space for gross motor movement. Philosophy/General Purpose

The purpose of the Dundee Township Park District Preschool is to provide a program in which the children are actively involved in a curriculum that stresses the social, emotional, physical and academic aspects of their development. Our goal is to create a warm, accepting environment which supports the development of the whole child.

Curriculum

The Park District provides opportunities for the child to be with other children, fostering a development of wholesome social relationships. Age appropriate experiences are provided that contribute to the developmental needs of the child, as well as building important foundations for future academic skills.

The Dundee Township Park District has adopted and successfully incorporated the Jolly Phonics reading program, which is also used by District 300 in their Kindergarten program. Younger children are introduced to skills which will enhance their self-reliance skills while encouraging strong positive social interaction. Children ages 4-5 prepare for Kindergarten through a variety of academic units including name, calendar, number and alphabet recognition. We offer children enrolled in our program a sense of enthusiasm for learning about themselves and the world around them.

Facilities (classrooms, gymnasiums, etc.)

We offer four locations throughout the area, Sleepy Hollow, West Dundee and two in Carpentersville. Although each site is unique, all sites offer individual classrooms which are arranged in an "learning center" style. All locations offer large motor areas, either with outdoor playgrounds or an indoor gym.

Our Pre-Kindergarten program is designed to promote the spiritual, social, cognitive, and physical development of young children in a Catholic faith-filled friendly environment.

    Curriculum

Pre-Kindergarten receives a balance of structured learning and free play. They are introduced to our Catholic faith throughout our day. The children begin to develop meaningful friendships, self-esteem, and respect for themselves and others throughout the day. The program includes: daily calendar activities, religion, hands-in math activities, “Happily Ever After” pre-reading series by the Rowland Foundation (for PreK-4), and AlphaTales (for PreK-3). Children learn through exploration to discover science! Learning center time, music/movement activities, and gross motor activities are all incorporated into the program. PreK-4 children attend Mass every other Friday. Computer class and PE class is also offered during PreK-4.

    Philosophy/General Purpose

TLC Preschool has a 22 year history of providing an atmosphere of unconditional love to children as they begin their first learning experience outside the home. We believe that each child is a special gift from God, each having their own unique gifts and talents. TLC is a mission of Trinity Lutheran Church of Huntley and is a non-profit, non-sectarian and non-discriminatory Christian Preschool. Our goal is to provide a child-centered, informal environment that will encourage children to discover and explore the world around them. We also strive to give the children a basic understanding of the love that God has for all of his creation. We believe that children need to feel safe, cared for and nurtured to help them become eager learners and to establish a firm foundation for their future education.

    Curriculum

Our nurturing staff makes learning fun by providing and environment that encourages children to explore, experiment and discover their own creative potential, while learning responsible decision-making and age appropriate academics. Our teachers prepare a wide variety of activities for children that are included in theme-based curriculum aligned with Developmentally Appropriate Practice and The Illinois Department of Education’s Early Learning Standards. TLC focuses on fine and gross motor, problem solving, pre-math and pre-literacy skills. Our preschool program fosters a life-long love of learning by making learning fun.
